The franchise contract is signed after the training course.  In the clauses, mention is frequently made of the franchise manual the content of which are of obligatory compliance. Its regulations affect not only the physical requirements of the franchise, such as the offices, their location, structure and decor, the furniture and equipment, but also the duties that the Franchisee must undertake, the promotional resources at his/her disposal, the Agency coordination and corresponding procedures.

       The contract reflects the obligations of the parties, of note amongst those of the Franchisor are those inherent to Patent Attorneys, such as the processing, maintenance, monitoring and defence of the rights of clients, with the Patent Attorney being the one who acts in name and representation of same with exact submission to legislation and the Law, and with the responsibility inherent to this profession. For the undertaking of these duties, the Patent Attorney has the legal obligation to maintain a valid civil liability insurance policy and have funds on deposit.

       The contract and the manual on sales techniques or marketing deserve a separate chapter, together with the financial framework of which they form part.
